Literacy Resource Office
This office, out of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, supports
library- and community-based volunteer literacy programs and tutors.
The office coordinates a state network of literacy providers, sponsors
programs to create awareness, and offers educational and grant opportunities.

The Center for Study of
Literacy
Housed at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, the Center
coordinates the Oklahoma Literacy Clearinghouse, a comprehensive
inventory of literacy resources in the state. The Clearinghouse
provides the statewide tollfree telephone number to connect citizens
with literacy information: 1-800-879-0987.

A statewide organization of volunteer literacy councils, state agencies,
civic organizations, correctional facilities, libraries, businesses,
and interested individuals—all working to improve the literacy

Department of Education Adult Learning Centers and GED Testing Centers
SDE's Lifelong
Learning Section is responsible for implementing Title II of the
Workforce Investment Act, the Adult Education and Literacy Act.
Under the guidelines of the law, 41
Adult Learning Centers have been funded to provide services
for educationally disadvantaged adults.
